Hexels

A study of 2D animations using pixels.
An experimental animation of my one-eyed dog inspired the creation of a simple experiential videogame called “Dogeball” during a game design course led by the Hand Eye Society, and was exhibited at the TMU Student Learning Centre.
Though the game had no end goal, it allowed players to experience the mechanics of moving my hard-of-seeing and skittish dog by luring him with a ball within his small radius of sight. The goal was to build empathy for all aging creatures, dog and otherwise, and emphasize their value despite having fewer / different functions than their younger selves.

A video game inspired by the dog animation was created as part of the Hand Eye Society’s Game Curious Make program.
